Los Angeles hip hop trio Clipping. don’t seem to know how to slow down. With rhymes that come as quickly as breaths, they have always been impressive in their pursuits. With their third album There Existed an Addiction to Blood coming in a couple of weeks, their new single “Blood of the Fang” and its video are definitely on another level.
The track delves deep into the sub genre of horrorcore, dark and without compromise. The rhymes are fast like gun fire, the synths and beats have a depth that sting. The track is nimble and quick while still staying in your ears. The video has imagery of a gunshot victim at the hands of the police. The treatment of the assault weapon versus the treatment of the victim is powerfully sad but true. A statement on our current state of hypocrisy in the US, the video is as enigmatic as the lyrics.
The video can be viewed above or on Youtube and the single can be streamed on all platforms. There Existed an Addiction to Blood is available for pre-order directly from Sub Pop Records on multiple formats before its October 18 release. Clipping. is on tour beginning October 08 at Rough Trade NYC in New York, NY until November 16 at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, CA. A full list of their tour dates can be found here.
