It’s a firm belief that Courtney Barnett can do anything and the result will be extraordinary. Ahead of her Milk Records Milk On Milk compilation coming in November, Barnett has released a new song. “Keep On,” written by label mates Loose Tooth shows that Barnett is game for anything and we’re the lucky recipients.
Where the original version from Loose Tooth was a bop filled with shoegaze touches and indie pop sensibility, Barnett takes the track closer to the indie rock world. Stripping away the pop elements and going straight for the jugular, Barnett keeps the song’s intent and re-imagines it in a new and fresh way. With a build that gains plenty of steam, the cover sounds closer to an original after the reinterpretation. Barnett really reworks the song to work best for her sound, making it a classic cover immediately.
“Keep On” is available to stream wherever you stream music. Milk On Milk can be preordered directly from Milk Records in multiple formats and bundles ahead of its November 15 release. Courtney Barnett is on tour beginning December 07 in Perth, Australia at Stadium Park at Optus Stadium until February 02 in Sonoma, CA at Gundlach Bundschu Winery. Her complete tour dates can be accessed here.
