Depending on how far back you go with your music listening, you may not know the name Bob Nanna. However, there’s plenty of ways to know his work with his bands Braid, Hey Mercedes and The City on Film. For over twenty years, Nanna has given indie rock plenty of great music while leading in superb songwriting. With his new solo album announced for release next year, the lead single “Do You Want to Buy a Guitar” offers fans of Nanna’s work plenty of nods to his hallmark sound while doing so in a fresh way.
Opening with acoustic guitar and Nanna’s signature vocals, the song has a tenderness that’s always been in the singer songwriter’s music. Just guitar and vocals, Nanna has no problem holding your ears with the organic hooks and heartfelt melodies that fall all over the track. The first in a documented series of songs, it’s gentle without being light and memorable without being antiquated.
The video is available for viewing above or on YouTube, and the song can be streamed on all platforms or purchased in all digital outlets. Bob Nanna will appear at The Fest in Gainesville, FL on November 02.
