The gentlemen of Algiers have no problem keeping up a steady run of great releases. After their last album The Underside of Power received plenty of acclaim, the band isn’t slowing down by any means. With a new album There Is No Year coming in January, the band has released a new single “Dispossession” and it’s everything you’d want and more.

The video, shot in France is as alluring as the music within. The city based imagery that opens things up show a city at peace. When the song begins the vocals come in like a punch to the gut. The mixture of beats and piano pair well with the soulful elements of the music. Algiers has always paired exceptional qualities to their sound, and the choral backing vocals and the structuring here is top notch. With its black and white film, the video pops more than if it were shot in color, while shots of the band exploring various spaces sticks with you after you view them.

There Is No Year is available to preorder directly from Matador Records ahead of its January 17 release.
