There’s few bands that make noise punk that are having the lifting times that the band Empath is. With their album Active Listening: Night On Earth getting reissued on vinyl, the band has released a new video for the track “Roses That Cry.” Directed by Haoyan of America, the video is a trippy visual experience that could alter anyone who sees it.
While the song exemplifies your idea of the genre, the video is a different path. Empath has the ability to take noise punk to new spaces with blown out notes and chaotic tones. The video has interspersed cuts of the band looking in mirrors, gazing into crystals and performing live through the kaleidoscopic lens of the videos appearance. In many ways, the intriguing visual aesthetic provides a new way to experience the band’s intense sound.
The video can be viewed above or on YouTube, the song can be streamed on all platforms. Active Listening: Night On Earth is available to purchase directly from Fat Possum Records or digitally from all outlets. Empath is on tour tonight at The Metro in Chicago, IL until December 17 at Hi-Dive in Denver, CO. Their complete tour schedule is available here.
