A band as iconic as The Flaming Lips doesn’t need anyone’s words to solidify the grand leaps they’ve taken the music world. In many ways a halo artist for label giants Warner Records, the band’s live set has always been a mystifying array of sounds and visuals. After touring their album The Soft Bulletin, the band is ready to release their most enigmatic concert from the tour. While The Soft Bulletin Recorded Live at Red Rocks With The Colorado Symphony Orchestra isn’t out until later this month, they’ve released a triumphant version of “The Spark That Bled.”
Besides the obvious, that the band as always sounds extraordinary, is the orchestra adds depth to a band that’s beyond deep. The build up of the track gets bookmarked with orchestral instrumentation that make it stand out more. It’s hard to believe that The Flaming Lips could sound more grand, yet here they have even more space to gravitate towards the epic. The orchestra blends perfectly with the song, making it pop more than it dos on the landmark album. Even more so, it sparkles here more than when you catch the band without the orchestra.
The song can be streamed on all streaming sites and purchased in all digital music stores. The Soft Bulletin Recorded Live at Red Rocks With The Colorado Symphony Orchestra is available to preorder ahead of its November 29 release directly from Warner Records. The Flaming Lips will be performing in Cholula Puebla, Mexico on December 07 at Festival Catrina and on May 22 in Walton On Trent, England, UK at Bearded Theory Spring Gathering.
