It’s not hard to say that Gary Clark Jr. is becoming a bigger and bigger deal by the moment. With his soulful new album This Land, he quickly proved that he was more than another guitar slinger from Texas. Though when he’s ready to show off those skills, he’s better than most. Recently he stopped by ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden,’ and quickly got down to the business of guitar showman.

The version here has the same swag that Clark Jr. brings to the album version. Though a bit more relaxed, his tone is just as impeccable as the lyrics hit just like you’d expect. Of course when he gets the chance to spread his wings on the solo, that’s when things change. Clark Jr. doesn’t hesitate to showcase those chops as he wields his axe like he’s chopping wood for the fire his sound creates.
