Hand Habits Announces Wildfire Covers Project Benefiting Amazon Conservation Association

We think it’s safe to say that Meg Duffy of Hand Habits is ahead of the curve in many ways. With the band’s latest album Placeholder, they proved they can swoon our souls as they draw us closer. Now the band has teamed up with multiple artists for an EP covering their track “Wildfire.” With covers by Angel Olsen, Tara Jane O’Neil and Lomelda to name a few, the fact that all proceeds go to charity is just another forward thing idea.

While the band version is a stirring reminder of Duffy’s tender vocals and acoustic balances, the Lomelda version is a bit different. Using a more sonic palette, the mix of guitar and effects drenched vocals create a painting of tonal qualities. Hannah Read attacks the song in a different manner than Duffy, though the tenderness remains without sounding too much like the original version.

Both songs, the original version and the Lomelda version are available to stream on all platforms. Wildfire Covers is available for preorder directly from the Saddle Creek Records Bandcamp page ahead of its December 25 release date. All profits will go to charity to combat climate change. Hand Habits is on tour January 18 in Chicago, IL at Schubas Tavern until March 14 in Brunswick West, Australia at Estonian House Co-Op LTD. Their complete tour schedule is accessible here.
