Molly Burch Adds Holiday Cheer on New Christmas Album

For a long time, there were few artists who wanted to tackle classic songs as covers. It’s a daunting task for some to attempt to add their own twist to a track we all know and love, but that’s not the case for Molly Burch. The Texas songbird has grown her audience in a short time frame, enough to where most will gladly accept a Christmas album from her. With the long list of covers and two originals from The Molly Burch Christmas Album, the release is a nice take on the holiday season.

Opening with the Bing Crosby track “The Secret of Christmas,” Burch shows her vocal prowess early and prominently. Making the track her own, you may immediately forget the original with Burch’s strong showing here. The same goes for the Dolly Parton classic “Hard Candy Christmas” where Burch gives the song a more tender touch or on “Snowqueen of Texas” where Burch adds a bit of Southern Charm to The Mama’s & The Papa’s track.

Where some of the track choices seem obvious, others have a more personal touch. The additional vocals on “Last Christmas” is fun and easy going and makes you forget the original by Wham! “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” is warm backed by a vocal chorus of children while the ABBA track “Happy New Year” takes on a life of its own. The original tracks work well here too, proving that Burch is on her own here. Few people can make you forget originals on an album of covers. With The Molly Burch Christmas Album, Molly Burch gets you to forget how the classics once sounded and makes them her own brand of holiday cheer.

The Molly Burch Christmas Album is available to purchase directly from Captured Tracks. The album is also available from all digital outlets and it can be streamed on all streaming platforms. Molly Burch is on tour from December 04 in New York, NY at The Bell House until May 09 in St. Louis, MO at Delmar Hall. Her complete tour including Christmas shows can be located here.
