Kim Gordon Releases Hypnotic Video For “Earthquake”

It seems that Kim Gordon is having no trouble putting the years with Sonic Youth behind her as she embarks on a fruitful solo career. Her debut release from this year No Home Record was a sonic assault mixed with noise and indie fervor that was exhilarating. Now she’s dropped a video for one of the tracks “Earthquake,” and it’s hypnotic in its surrealism.

The video is shrouded in surveillance. With a mapping car capturing people walking, placing each into categories while mapping the landscape. The loss of personal freedom and privacy depicted is not only surreal, but sad because it’s true. The song, one of the more intimate of the album, is Gordon just where you’d expect, between noise and personal depth.

The video can be streamed above or on YouTube. No Home Record is available on multiple formats directly from Matador Records. It can also be streamed on all sites or downloaded from all digital outlets. Kim Gordon is on tour beginning April 03 at Mission Creek Festival in Iowa City, IA until June 04 at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain. Her complete tour dates can be accessed here.
