Sun June Releases Stunning New Single

In the constant quest for new music, there are times where you’ll get mystified in how one band gets popular over another. You can also get lost in the guise of modern popularity over talent. When we stumbled upon the regret pop of Austin’s Sun June, we were astounded that they somehow missed our radar, and we’ve been fans of everything they’ve done since. After a strong 2019 with tours in Europe as well as direct support dates with Fruit Bats and Lucy Dacus, the Austin group is back with a new song “Terrified” that will stir your soul and make you their next big fan. Part of the Song Confessional Podcast where artists sing the story of someone else, it’s another winner from beginning to end.

The elemental graces in the song between the keys and the drums create an organic tone that’s as bright as sunlight. When the vocals from singer Laura Colwell come in, you’re immediately transfixed on her heavenly tone. The band adds touches like a heavy bass and these angelic notes before sprinkling in melodious guitar to create a sound that washes over you like a Summer breeze. The additional backing vocals make for a nice add on, proving that the band can always perk our ears no matter what they do.

The song is available to stream above or on Soundcloud. Sun June’s debut full length Years is available directly from Keeled Scales. Their latest singles and Younger E.P. can be purchased from Bandcamp. Sun June will be at this year’s SXSW in Austin, TX March 13 through 22. They are set to release a new album in the second half of this year.
