Watch Lucy Dacus Perform “Night Shift” on Austin City Limits

The last couple of years have been a big deal for Lucy Dacus. The tender voiced artist has seen her album Historian receive acclaim, her 2019 E.P. was just as celebrated and her tours have gotten bigger and bigger. Now she’s ready for those who haven’t caught her in person to see what they’ve been missing. With her set on Austin City Limits, she showed that she’s a force in person as well.

There’s a softness to the way Dacus delivers the track here. Strumming her Telecaster and letting her vocals pick up the open spaces, this version is eerily similar to that of the one on the album. Dacus doesn’t mix things up too much, but that’s a good thing. The song is perfect in its original form, and it comes across just as powerful and tender in this performance as well.

The video can be viewed above or on YouTube. The entire performance is available to view here through PBS. 2019 is available to stream or to purchase digitally, and it can be purchased directly from Matador Records on multiple formats. Lucy Dacus is on tour January 17 at 30A Songwriters Festival in Santa Rosa Beach, FL until April 01 at Mission Creek Festival in Iowa City, IA. Her complete tour schedule can be accessed here

David Garrick

David Garrick has spent the last five years interviewing some of the most intriguing and engaging artists performing today. Everyone from Angel Olsen to Phoebe Bridgers, Wire to Yo La Tengo, Snail Mail to Soccer Mommy, Ghost to First Aid Kit, The Breeders to Protomartyr, and many more. He's a giant fan of music of pretty much any genre; but especially to the underdogs. He's been known to see more concerts in a week than many people will see in a year.
