When we caught Post Animal in person recently, we were astounded at the energy they brought to their live show. The Chicago five piece seems to not only impress those who attend their sets, but make them participants at the party as well. With a new album Forward Motion Godyssey due for release in the middle of February, the band’s latest single “Fitness” should give you an idea of how they’re reshaping their psych rock beginnings.

With a hypnotic opening, the song has more of a headstrong build that incorporates whispered vocals. The song has a haunting tone, yet it’s more positive than ominous. Post Animal are upping their game here, where the arrangements are more complex than on previous releases. The bridge alone offers up a more refined grace, where strings come in and give the song a whole new depth.

Post Animal will be on tour beginning February 16 in Leeds, UK at 02 Academy Leeds until April 24 in Madison, WI at High Noon Saloon.
