Since this publication’s existence, we’ve had a thing for New York’s Drug Church. Their last full length was one of our favorite albums of 2018, and their live sets have been nothing if not a mix of high energy and eviscerate tones. Now ahead of a new run of tour dates with Thrice the band has just dropped a new single, and “Bliss Out” is just as enigmatic as Cheer.
Opening with the band’s signature gurgled guitar, the energy is high and searing. The way the drums snap against the howling vocals creates a tone that’s unmistakable. The nineties Alt rock hooks that come in and pull you closer hold your ears between the band stopping and starting. It’s nonstop highs from open to close and the spoken word sections make for a nice touch as do the dual vocals in the end.
“Bliss Out” can be streamed wherever you stream music or purchased digitally wherever you download it. Cheer is available to purchase physically directly from Pure Noise Records. Drug Church is on tour beginning tomorrow at The Warfield in San Francisco, CA until February 29 at The Novo in Los Angeles, CA. Their complete tour schedule is available here.
