Los Angeles foursome Dear Boy make the kind of music that’s two parts pop and one part indie rock. While that’s not an unfamiliar formula, the way the band excels in the indie pop genre is extraordinary. Last year the band dropped The Strawberry E.P. and it was a revelation in terms of how it was arranged and with plenty of hooks. Now they’ve just dropped a new stand alone single “The Nominee,” and it should make anyone who hears it a fan of their sound.
The song has all of the graceful presence that the band has brought to all of their music. Full of hooks from the jump, the build between dual vocals and guitars sets the stage for the snappy drums to come in and sooth you over. Coupling indie rock guise with pop structure, the song feels closer to a wider scale hit than anything the band has released prior. opening like a budding flower, the song gets more and more immense with each passing note.
“The Nominee” is ready to stream on all streaming sites or to purchase from all digital outlets. To date, there are no scheduled tour performances for Dear Boy, though that could change soon.
