The Paranoyds Slay in Person

The other night, the same day as the world lost Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles punks The Paranoyds played a set that was a riot from beginning to end. The band performing as a three piece and still reeling from the news donned apparel featuring Bryant’s name and his number. But while that sadness loomed over their heads, they had no problem bringing their songs from their catalog to life.

While the band did cover a lot of ground, their latest album Carnage Bargain was where the set was focused, and the band shined as they played the songs with intense energy. From beginning to end, the band played as if they were doing so for their lives, while offering funny banter between the tracks. Even after a blistering set from Texas punks Turnaways, The Paranoyds proved they’re a hard act for anyone to follow.

Carnage Bargain is available physically directly from Suicide Squeeze Records. It’s also available to stream on all streaming sites or to purchase in all digital outlets. The Paranoyds are on tour tonight at The Pinhook in Durham, NC until February 16 at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach, CA. Their complete tour schedule is accessible here.
