Artists like Hazel English don’t come along very often. When they do, you have to soak up everything they do because its just that good. After her double EP from 2017, it feels like it’s been too long since we heard any word of a new release from English, but that’s all changed. With a new album Wake UP! set for release in late April, English is ready to share the Justin Raisen produced album with the world. With that, the new single “Off My Mind” is so good, it should have you ready to preorder your own copy.

The better production makes English’s sixties pop tinge sparkle more here. The mix has her vocals with a more distanced tone while the instruments sway and bop beneath them. The backing vocals and pedal steel make for a nice touch, while the chorus is so catchy that you’ll probably start dancing the moment you hear it. English is coming strong here, letting her voice do the heavy lifting. The video looks like a trailer for a good ole American film that came out fifty years ago. Luckily for us, the song is much fresher.

Wake UP! is ready for preorder in multiple bundles and formats directly from Polyvinyl Records ahead of its April 24 release. As of now, there are no tour dates announced for Hazel English, though that should change soon.
