In a lot of ways, it’s hard to believe that the landmark show Tom Goes to the Mayor debuted on Adult Swim via Cartoon Network over fifteen years ago. While the creators of the show, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim have since moved on to live action comedy, their brand of uncomfortable humor hasn’t changed. Known affectionately by a rabid fan base as Tim & Eric, the duo has created such a viral brand of humor that it’s not only been copied multiple times, but it’s had the duo create ads based around it as well.

Tim and Eric Beef House
While Tim & Eric have done all sorts of things since their show Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, their bizarre sense of humor hasn’t changed. In fact, it’s just gotten stranger. With a cast of characters in their ever expanding universe of B-movie actors and Hollywood dropouts, the comics have announced a new show coming later this year. With Beef House, the duo returns with a multi-camera sitcom that should be filled with just as bizarre comedy as uncomfortable moments. Amid all of this, Tim & Eric are back on the road with a new tour, The Mandatory Attendance Tour.
For anyone who’s caught the comics in person, the show is a hodge-podge of music, comedy and overall wackiness. Lead by Tim & Eric, the live shows have plenty of people from the T&E universe reprising their roles as characters from the shows or just themselves. The skits featuring Casey & his brother, Tennessee Winston Luke as his off-beat self and even characters like Pierre and Michael Q. Schmidt have all been in tours past.
While it’s hard to say what the tour is or will be, what’s for certain is that it will feature sing-a-longs and plenty of strange comedy. Dubbed anti-humor by some, Tim & Eric have successfully created their own universe where we can all relate to the absurdity and anguish within it.
The Mandatory Attendance Tour will be in Austin, TX tonight at ACL LIVE at the Moody Theater, in Houston, TX tomorrow at Wortham Center/Cullen Theater, and continues until March 07 in Los Angeles, CA at Theatre at Ace Hotel. The complete tour schedule is accessible here.
