Producer and singer songwriter Lapsley has popped off ever since her debut release a couple of years ago. For a while now, the world has been waiting for what’s next, and now we have our answer. In late March she’ll drop a new album titled Through Water. He lead single “Womxn” should let you know real fast that the artist is no longer a teen, and her sound has evolved to new heights as well.
There’s a lot of depth here, whether it be from the sunny electronic stabs or fro the orchestral opening. When the beat drops you should find yourself drawn in immediately. The song is quite the bop that makes you move your head to the infectious sound and catchy hooks. The video, cutting between cyclists climbing a hill and the artists singing offers the perfect balance between visual and audio candy, while tackling the uphill battle young women face in today’s society.
The video can be seen above or on YouTube. The single is ready to stream on all streaming sites. Through Water can be preordered in multiple formats and bundles directly from XL Recordings before its March 20 release. Lapsley is set to appear at Piknik i Parken in Oslo, Norway on June 11.
