Australia’s Alex Lahey grew a bit with her last release The Best of Luck Club. Even though that was less than a year ago, Lahey isn’t one to stay dormant for long. Alongside the announcement of a new run of West Coast tour dates, Lahey has just dropped a new single. What you’ll immediately notice is the song “Sucker For Punishment” has an immediacy with big rock hooks steering from what we heard on her last full length.
With plenty of indie rock haze and a snappy stride, the song immediately gets going. Lahey, singing in a reverberated tone like the vocals are coming from down the hall pulls you in. The catchy chorus doesn’t relent while the mix of guitar sears and thuddy bass play perfectly with the uptempo drums. There’s little to dislike here as Lahey keeps things up and never slows down to see the aftermath.
The lyric video can be seen above or on YouTube. The song is ready to stream on all streaming sites or to purchase in all digital music stores via Dead Oceans. Alex Lahey will be on tour in the U.S. beginning May 30 at Casbah in San Diego, CA until June 09 at Barboza in Seattle, WA. The tickets for all of the additional dates can be purchased this Friday at 10 a.m. here.
