Michigan’s Anna Burch has been on our radar for a while now. Between her last full length Quit the Curse and her split release with Fred Thomas, it’s safe to say we were hooked from the first notes we heard. Now with a new album If You’re Dreaming set for release in early April, Burch is ready to show off a more refined sound. With a similar guise as her previous efforts, while adding more melodic arrangements her new single “Party’s Over” offers a tone that should resonate with anyone who hears it.
The song still holds the indie rock guitar tones that Burch has become known for, while a more airy tone falls upon the track. The arrangements between her vocals and the orchestral opening are magical. Burch has employed an easy going pace here that keeps your attention, while the slower speed of the verse causes a build that hooks you in when the chorus hits. The real appeal comes with the vocals that show how strong Burch approaches that element in a way that will cause you to hit repeat several times. The video has all of the comical touches of a bride without a groom, and somehow ties in a river monster who caught the bouquet.
The video can be viewed above or on YouTube. The song can be streamed on all streaming sites. If You’re Dreaming is ready to be preordered in multiple bundles and formats directly from Polyvinyl Records before its April 03 release. Anna Burch is on tour March 14 in Cincinnati, OH at MOTR until May 23 in Freiburg Germany at Swamp. Her complete tour routing is located here.
