With is new album Traditional Techniques coming in early March, Stephen Malkmus is ready to show us yet another side to the music he creates. The former Pavement front man has had no problem evolving over the years, and his new live acoustic version of the song “Brainwashed” via La Blogotheque makes us even more intrigued on what’s next from him.

Filmed in a cafe, the video is a live performance on acoustic guitar. While that is what it is, the song has all the makings of a Malkmus song. Unapologetic, Malkmus’ signature sound falls all over the track where the hook is in your face and his vocals dance a top it all. While taking us further down the rabbit hole of the new album, Malkmus gives us another reason to get the album into our collections.

Stephen Malkmus has also added new tour dates. You can see him starting March 31 at First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN until July 11 at Gothic Theatre in Denver, CO.
