It’s difficult to believe that it’s been three years since Australia’s Gordi released Reservoir. While the album remains a favorite among many, the singer songwriter has just announced a new album coming in June. While Our Two Skins will see the light of day before the end of Summer, the new single “Aeroplane Bathroom” is a sweet and gentle reminder of the power the artist holds in just one note.
Shot in an abandoned airplane graveyard in Bangkok, the video showcases the more lonely aspects of the song. While the song has touches of kindness, it also feels very insular. The juxtaposition between being alone in the shell of a plane while the stark piano and soft vocals ring out is extraordinary. There’s something about the video’s imagery that pairs perfectly with the introspective aspects of the music. In many ways, it exemplifies the experience by having visions of loneliness inside a busted plane while the lyrics look inwards and reveal an honesty that reaches out.
The video can be viewed above or on YouTube. The single is ready to stream at all streaming sites. Our Two Skins can be preordered today from Jagjaguwar Records before its June 19 release. Gordi is scheduled to be on tour beginning May 19 in Mexico City, Mexico at El Plaza Condessa until June 05 in Cooperstown, NY at Brewery Ommegang. Dates are subject to change due to COVID-19. Her complete tour dates can be accessed here.
