Now that we’ve gotten used to Will Toledo’s alternate personality Trait, it’s not so difficult seeing him wash the dishes. That’s what happens in the new lyric video for the latest Car Seat Headrest track, “Martin.” While the band’s new album Making A Door Less Open is due to arrive in May, the new single offers another glimpse into what the long-awaited full length could be.
The video is just Trait washing dishes, though we do get to see that the mask can display lyrics and emotions. The song is more classic sounding to what you’re used to. The acoustic mixed with the snappy drums makes for a more intriguing sound. In many ways it’s a lot of what you’d expect from a band growing their sound. The production levels make the song pop harder and the chorus is louder than the verse. It’s a catchy song, one that’s hard not to like. Steering from the electronic toned sound of the lead single, this sound is more up the alley of longtime fans of the band.
The video can be seen above or on YouTube. The single is ready to stream on all streaming sites. Making A Door Less Open can be preordered on multiple formats and in bundles directly from Matador Records before its May 01 release. Car Seat Headrest is scheduled to begin touring on May 27 at Palace Theatre in Saint Paul, MN until September 04 at Mass MoCA in North Adams, MA. Their complete tour dates can be accessed here. Due to COVID-19, the tour may be subject to rescheduling.
