When we saw the tour announcement for The 1975, we were a bit puzzled by the Phoebe Bridgers direct support slot. Being fans of Bridgers and semi-fans of The 1975, the placement seemed different to say the least. However with their new single “Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America,” the placement now makes one hundred percent sense. With the song featuring Bridgers, the shape of their upcoming album Notes On A Conditional Form looks much different.
The acoustic song brings forth a more calming tone from the pop band. With an orchestral backing, the mix of vocals between the band and Bridgers creates a wondrous tone. There are still pop undercurrents, but in some ways it shows the band in a different light while expanding their overall appeal. The song is the best prerelease single from the band so far, offering plenty more to like from the pop group.
The song can be streamed on all streaming sites. Notes On A Conditional Form is available to preorder directly from Interscope Records in multiple bundles and formats before its May 22 release. The 1975 is set to be on tour beginning June 18 at Rock For People Festival in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic until November 01 in Oslo, Norway at Oslo Spektrum Arena. The complete tour dates for the band are located here. Due to COVID-19, these dates are subject to change.
