By now, most people know you aren’t going to slow down Houston’s Khruangbin. Behind their successful releases from the past year alone, as well as some marquee festival appearances and sold out tours the globe-trotting trio is on a tear. Now with a new album Mordechai set for release in June, the band has dropped a new single and video as well. What “So We Won’t Forget” reminds you of, is that these three won’t slow the groove down by any means.
While the video is cute and endearing and displays that some journeys are worth the effort to get there, the song is where the true wizardry lies. With the bass and the drums laying the groundwork for the true funky tones and stride, the guitar comes in with such a sprinkle of sound that it hooks you immediately. The groove between Laura Lee Ochoa and Donald “DJ” Johnson creates such a groove oriented vibe that it’s hard not to get down as it plays. The melodious notes from Mark Speer’s fret board just pull you closer to the catchy sound.
The video can be watched above or on YouTube. Mordechai is ready to be preordered directly from Dead Oceans ahead of its June 26 release.
