Wilco Drops New Song on Colbert For Charity

In many ways, it’s kind of difficult to believe that Wilco has been a band over twenty five years. Always up for doing and trying new things, the band has kept a spry finger on the pulse of American life without giving too much away to get there. On their new single “Tell Your Friends,” they get us there to where they are as well. Performed in quarantine for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the song is also available to purchae with all of the proceeds going to charity.

Thee’s a whimsical nature to the song that feels good when we don’t know what tomorrow will bring. The strum of the acoustic, Jeff Tweedy’s soft dual vocals and the backing group vocals offer calm in our current storm. The video featuring all members with their families in their respective residences shows the commonality of today and the camaraderie that the band has together. Even if they’re apart.

The video from the band’s performance can be watched above or on YouTube. The song is ready to purchase directly from Bandcamp with all proceeds going to World Central Kitchen. The track is also ready to stream on Bandcamp as well.

David Garrick

David Garrick has spent the last five years interviewing some of the most intriguing and engaging artists performing today. Everyone from Angel Olsen to Phoebe Bridgers, Wire to Yo La Tengo, Snail Mail to Soccer Mommy, Ghost to First Aid Kit, The Breeders to Protomartyr, and many more. He's a giant fan of music of pretty much any genre; but especially to the underdogs. He's been known to see more concerts in a week than many people will see in a year.
