These current times in which we’re in has meant that bands have had to sit out prime touring time while we wait for when things can return. One of the tours many people were looking forward to was the tour from Nashville’s Soccer Mommy. Behind her latest album Color Theory, it seemed like the headlining tour was all the rage. While we all still wait for the dates to be rescheduled, Soccer Mommy has announced a new release. With the Soccer Mommy & Friends Singles Series, the artist will cover the songs of others who also cover her music in return.
The first singles have emerged with Jay Som putting their own twist on the Soccer Mommy track “Lucy.” The sound of the song here has a darker and more ominous tone, while the band takes the track and delivers it in a new and more chill way. The Soccer Mommy cover of the Jay Som song “I Think You’re Alright” has a soft and tender sound. Backed by electronic beats, the acoustic and Sophie Allison’s vocals offer the song up in a whole new way.
Both songs are available to stream wherever you stream music. The album is ready to be preordered directly from Loma Vista Recordings. The physical album is released on June 17 while the digital album drops on July 02. Sales from the Bandcamp purchases go directly to the Oxfam COVID-19 Relief Fund.
