Protomartyr Attacks Greed in Video for New Single

Long time fans of Detroit’s Protomartyr already know that the post punk band has no problem delivering a political statement. Coming from a place where the working class are often mistreated by massive corporations, it should come as no surprise that their new video for their single “Michigan Hammers” feels like an assault on American greed. The latest single off their upcoming full length Ultimate Success Today, the song has all of the markings of the band’s signature sound while the video delivers a powerful message.

The video made up of stock footage makes the case immediately, that greed is terrible and it ruins everything pure. However as powerful as the imagery is, the song is where the true sorcery lies. Between searing guitar tones and the pulsating drums, the vocals have that distanced and disdained timbre. As the words soak in, the way the song paces out delivers the pure post punk sounds the band has employed over the years. More raw and gritty than the previous singles, there’s plenty of well honed songwriting here to showcase the band’s growth in recent years.

The video is ready to watch above or on YouTube. The single can be streamed on al streaming sites. Ultimate Success Today is available on multiple physical formats for preorder from Domino Records. The album is set for release on July 17.
