New Jersey’s Screaming Females caught everyone’s ears when they began, though their 2013 release Chalk Tape caught the ears of music critics everywhere. Containing plenty of hook-filled pop touches, the band quickly got bigger with heaps of praise for the release. While it was limited to a cassette tape release alongside the digital version, that changes today. Now Chalk Tape will be made available on vinyl for the first time ever.
The release was full of well done tracks, like the band’s years of touring made them a well oiled machine when it came time to record. The way the drums open things up on “Sick Bed” before the bass and the vocals become one. The acoustic tones of “Bad Men” and the upbeat drive of “Poison Arrow” showed the band could not just go hard but they could also get there in a catchy way.
The limited edition LP vinyl is available for preorder directly from Don Giovanni Records.
