Cold War Kids are a band that’s always done things their own way. With their last release New Age Norms it felt like they had a crystal ball on how this year has turned out. Now with a new album New Age Norms 2 coming this Fall, the band has tapped director Mezzy to shoot the video for their new single “Who’s Gonna Love Me Now” off the upcoming album. The director of the Lil Peep documentary definitely guides the song into a film like fashion while giving you an idea of where the new album will go in terms of sound.
The song has plenty of weight. Between the piano and the beat, the vocals are open ended and contain lots of emotive tones. The song has an almost pop structure without being pop. The distance between the instruments is light as the band keeps it tight and the catchy track stays with you as soon as you hear it. The video features a road trip, two possible murders and plenty of blood while the song plays like the soundtrack to it all.
The video can be viewed above or on YouTube. The song is available to stream on all platforms. New Age Norms 2, the second installment of three album trilogy is set for release later this year.
