Chicago four piece Ganser has never really shied away from their engaging mix of post punk and synthesizers. Though they’ve been around for a minute, with each new release they sound almost like a new band. Ahead of their upcoming album Just Look at That Sky due in late July, they’ve released a new single “Emergency Equipment & Exits” that hits hard while its video will stay with you as well.
Opening with a dark synth that pulsates your ears, the band ticks up the energy with the bass coming in and drums that hold more energy than a power plant. When the vocals hit everything becomes clear as the energy surrounds the sounds and creates a vacuum of power. There’s so much here that it can almost overwhelm in just how the track is mixed. The parts with just bass offer a counter balance to all of it while holding your attention. The video features the members performing before isolated imagery out in nature appear. While that may seem odd, it works perfectly here.
You can watch the video above. Just Look At That Sky is available for preorder directly from Felte Records ahead of its July 31 release on multiple formats. Ganser is scheduled to begin touring on December 02 at Turf Club in St Paul, MN until December 06 in Ferndale, MI at The Loving Touch. Their complete tour dates are accessible here. Due to COVID-19, these dates are subject to reschedule of change.
