New Twin Peaks EP Delivers the Goods

Chicago’s Twin Peaks are definitely proving that they can deliver more music in these crazy times. On their new EP Side A they dig into the coffers and come out with an intriguing mix of music. Touching on their garage rock past while intermingling with chill wave and indie rock, the new four song release shows how far the five piece has come in recent years.

The four song EP begins with “What’s the Matter” with Ohmme and V.V. Lightbody, delivering a relaxed sound. Complete with group vocals, the song gets things going in the best way possible. While the more chill tones of “Whistle in the Wind (End of Everything” with Lala Lala gives way to a more slow demeanor, it gets followed with the upbeat tones of “Any More Than You Want.” The track gets itself started with vocals and acoustic before treading down a path of sixties edged psych that marries the Laurel Canyon with London. One of the more accomplished sounds the band has ever delivered, this is the Twin Peaks we wished we’d get more of. The closer “Above/Below” again with Ohmme and V.V. Lightbody, gets groovy and becomes a head bopper real fast. The way the drums and bass set the stage with the guitars and vocals in the same key is masterful, just showing that Twin Peaks have many more tricks up their sleeves.

Side A is available to preorder as a 10″ vinyl directly from Grand Jury Music. The album is also ready to buy in all digital music stores or to stream on all streaming sites.
