Ty Segall is an artist who can’t seem to slow down, no matter what’s happening around him. With his more metal based project FUZZ, we heard a new song from the trio earlier this year. Now they’ve announced that they’re back with a new album III and a new song “Returning.” As you’ll notice, the track holds what made the band memorable while embarking on new territory at the same time.
Full of hearty riffs and bombastic drums, the song signals a return for the project in a big way. The distorted sounds that reel and squeal have vocals that meet the riffs like a distanced traveler. The way the song sits underneath a more dream rock sound gives way for the guitar parts to stand out more. The slow pace of the song means that you notice each note better while still banging your head.
The new single can be heard above or on YouTube. III is ready to preorder directly from In The Red Records before it gets released on October 23. Fuzz is scheduled to begin touring on December 03 at Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles, CA until March 31 in London, UK at Electric Ballroom. Due to COVID-19, these dates are subject to reschedule or change. Their complete tour schedule is accessible here.
