The Southern charm of Opie Hendrix shouldn’t be lost on anyone. For years he’s mixed well written songs with twang filled rock n’ roll. With a new album Unhappy People coming in September, the Houstonian just revealed the title track and a new video that let you imagine if he were president in these turbulent times.
While the video, shot in a replica of the oval office is comical, the song is the real winner here. Utilizing a more happy-go-lucky pacing, the song is so catchy that you’ll have it in your head as it plays. Backed with backup singers and a chorus that you can sing along to, the production lets Hendrix shine with his top notch songwriting. While the charm cannot be denied, Hendrix delivers his strongest song in years full of swagger and twang that only he can deliver.
The video can be viewed above or on YouTube. “Unhappy People” is ready to stream on all platforms. Unhappy People will be unveiled to the world physically on September 25. Opie Hendrix will perform a live-stream at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck on September 25 in Houston, TX.
