Chicago’s Spun Out may be the result of three quarters from celebrated group Ne-Hi’s demise, but the music they’ve released so far proves they’re so much more than that. With their debut album Touch The Sound out in August, their new single “Off the Vine” shows more promise behind the group’s sound while expanding it in the process.
With a groove oriented sound, the falsetto vocals fall in place with the party like atmosphere that the song creates. Flanked with a stride that’s closest to nineties Brit-pop, the mix of instrumentation and brass that mixes with the vocals is hard not to like. Almost as if everyone involved is coming from a different head space, the psych and electronic touches meld together to create a sound that belongs to Spun Out and really no one else in music today.
The single can be heard above or on YouTube. Touch the Sound is available for preorder directly from Shuga Records before its August 21 release.
