If you ask most songwriters, the differences between writing lots of songs and just one song can be immense. Since we first heard the music of Uncle Tupelo, Jeff Tweedy has been an inspiring figure in terms of a songwriter among other things. Heading up and leading Wilco for over twenty years, having a successful solo career and even writing a memoir are all accolades he’s achieved. Now he’s ready to tackle another book about songwriting with How To Write One Song due in October.
On the book, Tweedy states: “The feeling I get when I write—the sense that time is simultaneously expanding and disappearing—that I’m simultaneously more me and also free of me—is the main reason I wanted to put my thoughts on songwriting down in book form to share with everyone so inclined.”
How To Write One Song is ready to be preordered directly from Dutton ahead of its October 13 release.
