Montreal’s Janette King makes the kind of music you can really latch on to. For a good while now, her vocals have offered plenty of ear candy for anyone who sought out her blend of electronic and R&B music. While her last release 143 was an EP that broke boundaries and showed her work in a new light, her new single “Mars” offers up more depth while growing her sound in the process.

The soulful electronics that open the track only go deeper when King’s vocals and the beat roll in. Intertwining R&B pop touches with soulful vocals gives the song a way to breathe without being airy. The track has plenty of bop and never really lets up, even when her voice is closer to a whisper. The first release for new label Hot Tramp, the song is great way to start off a new venture and had not to get down to.
