After six years, South African born and Los Angeles transplant Prism Tats is making a change. While the producer and artist has garnered plenty of attention with the stage name, he’s moving on now under the moniker Gary V. The name, closer to his birth name of Garret Van der Spek will be used from here on out as the name for his music. To celebrate the change he’s dropped a new single “Eternal Return (Deja Vu)” that signals the change while holding his ability to write and arrange intriguing songs.
Opening with a mixture of ambient sounds and chillwave pacing, the track has an immediacy to its laid back sound. With the vocals sounding like they’re coming from a distanced space, there’s plenty of weight in how the vocals get doubles and the hooks keep coming as the track plays out. With touches that remind you of early nineties Brit pop, the song will definitely be one you’ll place on repeat as you space out to it.
The video is viewable above or on YouTube. The song is ready to stream wherever you stream music, or it can be purchased digitally in all digital music stores via Anti Records.
