Texas’ Buck Meek has always brought something more than just his guitar to music. While most know him for his work with Big Thief, Meek has delivered just as wondrous tones in his solo career over the years. Folk touches wrapped in Hill Country twang, Meek has just announced a new solo album coming in January. While we aren’t certain of what Two Saviors will be just yet, we can tell you that the lead single “Second Sight” has Meek at his best so far.
The song has an immediacy where the vocals start things off alongside the guitar. Weaving like lost dogs in the street, here Meek holds his wandering soul while delivering the tune within a catchy and upbeat stride. The backing vocals mesh well within how the song is written and arranged. Like a song great for backpacking, the sways of the bass and the drums lay underneath Meek’s vocals as backing voices meld with an organ to create a sound that’s just as calming as a morning breeze.
“Second Sight” can be heard above or wherever you stream music. Two Saviors is ready to preorder on various formats directly from Keeled Scales ahead of its January 15 release date.
