The War On Drugs has always offered that sound that’s familiar but not present. Closer to Jackson Browne than most modern bands, their sound in a live setting has never been heard by many who just love on their studio releases. That changes now as the band has announced a new live album LIVE DRUGS set for release in November. Showcasing the band’s power in person, they’ve revealed “Pain (Live)” and it’s eye opening for anyone who hasn’t experienced the group in person.
The gentle tones and the soft vocals work together like hot syrup and flap jacks. The band is firing just right, utilizing the notes between them with the vocals in a harmonic display of beauty. Gingerly in its approach, the guitar tones alone open things up with the solo that comes in and delivers a rock sound that feels far and away without sounding off base.
“Pain (Live)” can be heard above or wherever you stream music. LIVE DRUGS is available to preorder before its November 20 release directly from Super High Quality Records. The War On Drugs is set to appear at NOS Alive21 in Lisbon, Portugal on July 08.
