It’s been three years since the last album from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah was released. While The Tourist was a well received album, the group has just announced a new album titled New Fragility set for release early next year. While we aren’t sure what it will ultimately sound like, they’ve released two new songs to help us get acquainted.
While both songs are said to be political in nature, “Hesitating Nation” has a nice build to it. With the vocals as the lead, pursed and into themselves. The song has a wondrous tone that builds and builds within itself. As the tones begin to branch out you get pulled in by the pacing alone. When the bow breaks you’re already hooked and along for the ride.
“Thousand Oaks” has a more sing song stride. While they are vocals at the top and at the bottom of the mix, the overall sound is hypnotic. The time away has done the music good, here showcasing a beautifully written song with just as stunning of an arrangement.
Both songs can be heard above or wherever you stream music. New Fragility is available for preorder directly from CYHSY ahead of its January 29 release. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is on tour beginning September 21 in Bristol, UK at Thekla until October 12 in Berlin, Germany at Frannz Club. Their tour schedule can be accessed here.
