The Weather Station Signs to Fat Possum & Drops New Single

While it’s been three years since the self titled debut from The Weather Station, they’re back in a big way. Bow part of the Fat Possum family, their new single “Robber” offers a new direction in sound without deterring from the band’s original intent. Accompanying the track is a new video as well directed by Tamara Lindeman of the band, and the two paired together go hand in hand.

The build of the song is extraordinary. Beneath drums and a stirring piano, the music within is stark yet calming at the same time. The way the vocals roll in like a warm breeze offers a more direct approach while still staying aloof. The offering of a more terse sound here showcases the strengths in the songwriting with jazz structures and stabs of the keys and brass that win you over quickly.

The video can be streamed above or on YouTube. The song can be heard on all streaming platforms. A seven inch vinyl can be purchased directly from Fat Possum Records. The B-side is available only on the seven inch and cannot be heard anywhere else.
