The new album Atlas Vending by Canada’s METZ is one of our favorite releases of the year. The noise banked sounds of the album coupled with the sonic dissonance create a tone that’s on a higher plane than the noise rock acts that preceded them. The lead track of the album “Pulse” is a great example of the band defining the song title itself with its pulsating sound. Now the band has released a video for the song that’s like a visual interpretation of the track.
Shot in black and white, the video actually matches the dark intensity of the song. Featuring a space man embarking on an epic journey, the use of light and dark in the clip helps delve into the wild notes of the song. Alongside hypnotic imagery, the video plays out with a heavy theme while offering plenty of spooky notions in the process.
The video is ready to watch above. Atlas Vending can be purchased physically and digitally directly from Sub Pop Records. It’s also available to stream on all streaming services. METZ will be on tour beginning August 11 at Canela Party in Torremolinos, Spain until October 08 in Antwerp, Belgium at Muziekcentrum Trix. Their tour schedule can be found here.
