Live music during the pandemic has been scarce to say the least. While livestreams and grid concerts are still in full effect, catching larger scale acts hasn’t been easy in 2020. However over the weekend The Strokes stopped by Saturday Night Live to play two songs. The performances were colorful while reminding us why the band is still a favorite around the globe.
The first of the two songs off of their new album The New Abnormal, “The Adults are Talking” offered plenty of imagery throughout the performance. While the five piece utilized new touches throughout the melodic track, they sounded refreshed and ready to perform more live sets if possible.
For their second song, “Bad Decisions” the band seemed to pull some of the energy from how the track is represented on the album. Still a good performance and full of melody, it could be how the sound on SNL is always up to interpretation of the listener about its quality.
Both songs can be viewed above of on Peacock. The New Abnormal is available directly from Cult Records/RCA Records in various formats and bundles. It can also be streamed on all services. The Strokes will return to touring beginning May 15 at The Forum in Los Angeles, CA until July 23 at Splendour In The Grass in Yelgun, Australia. Their complete tour schedule is available here.
