For a bit now, we’ve been teased new music from Arcade Fire. The band has been slowly revealing hints here and there about an upcoming album while members work on other projects. However on the Stephen Colbert Election Night Special on Showtime the other night, the band came through. Debuting a new song “Generation A” the band showed us a glimpse as to what’s coming.
Politically charged in its messaging, the performance began with drums and a child yelling into a microphone. Upbeat and more pop derived, the song swells with bass and guitar notes. The dual synths add plenty of weight as do the group vocals that meet the lead vocals. It’s a catchy number, one that will hopefully land on a new album sooner than later.
The video of the performance is available to watch above or on YouTube. There’s no word of a new album just yet, nor is there a release date. You can stream the music of Arcade Fire on all streaming sites.
