When South London’s Shame released their debut album we were floored at how magnificent it sounded. Dropping tracks that rung in your ears with melodic touches, catching their rowdy live show was a tipping point when it occurred. Now with a few singles out already, the band has returned with a new song “Water in the Well” that takes things up a notch. If that weren’t enough, there’s a new video as well as the announcement of their follow up album Drunk Tank Pink coming in January.
The song opens with plenty of melodic grace while still have touches of wild thrown in. The chaotic energy offers a fervent tone that steers the ship within their post punk sound while gearing you up for the energetic chorus that follows. The spliced in photos of the band within the imagery of them together or popping around corners pairs perfectly with the frenzied energy that the song creates. This is the sound from Shame we’ve missed most.
The video is available to watch above. The song can be heard wherever you stream music. Drunk Tank Pink can be preordered on various formats from Dead Oceans ahead of its January 15 release.
