For a minute now, we’ve told you about our admiration for London’s Dry Cleaning. Creating murky post punk that isn’t heavily mired in the genre, they’ve always checked plenty of boxes for us. Now part of the 4AD Records family they’ve just released their new single “Scratchcard Lanyard” for the label alongside a video that’s as intriguing as their sound.
The music follows the general touches of post punk with the murky bass line and quieted vocals. However utilizing a drum machine, the pedal drenched guitars mix well with the band’s tongue in cheek dissonance. As if they’re disaffected, their sound is up front and without any over embellished notes. The video starts off as an in your face idea that pulls back to reveal the band performing the song. It works and falls in line with the band’s remarkable sound.
The video is ready to view above. The song can be heard in all streaming platforms or purchased in all digital retailers via 4AD. Dry Cleaning is set to begin touring starting March 14 at Ashton in Makerfield Library in Ashton In Makerfield, UK until March 31 at Electric Brixton in London, UK. Their complete tour dates can be accessed here.
