Super group MUZZ is more than just the sum of its parts. With Paul Banks from Interpol, Josh Kaufman of Bonny Light Horseman and Matt Barrick from The Walkmen the band dazzled everyone with their self-titled debut. Now against an upcoming live-stream performance they’ve announced a new cover E.P. simply titled Covers due next week. The lead song is a cover of the Arthur Russell track “Nobody Wants a Lonely Heart,” and it’s quite magical in tone.
Stripped to its foundation, the way Banks’ vocals slowly rumble above the piano creates a wistful gaze. Steering a bit from the original without trampling it, the band’s version here gets met with brushed drums and rings out into the void of 2020 with a hopeful and loving tone.
The song can be heard above or wherever you stream music. Covers can be presaved on all streaming sites or preordered from all digital music stores via Matador Records. MUZZ is set to perform via live-stream on December 04. Tickets can be purchased here.
