South London’s Shame have been offering up plenty of diversity in their post punk sound since announcing their new album Drunk Tank Pink. The long-awaited new album should shed light on the band’s absence since wrapping up their last run of tour dates. Now they’re revealing a new song with “Snow Day” and the attached video alongside the fevered track offer another look at what the diverse album should be.
The song is stark in tone and in delivery. The melodic twang of the guitars and the fevered drums mix well with the gurgled bass. This is the band going hard into a new path of sorts. When the talk sing vocals come in, there’s a hint of menace in the delivery. The song is dark post punk as it should be performed. Rife with rhythm changes and new paths crossed as they’re laid out. The video features footage of landscapes in the snow as the lyrics flash upon the screen, offering a look as different as the song itself.
The video is available to view above. The song can be heard on all streaming platforms. Drunk Tank Pink can be preordered on various formats and bundles directly from Dead Oceans before its January 15 release. Shame is on tour starting February 02 at Brudenell Social Club in Leeds, UK until February 27 in Brighton, UK at Chalk. Their tour schedule can be accessed here.
